Terramycin® LA Injectable Solution is a patented formulation containing 200 mg oxytetracycline per ml.
Terramycin® LA Injectable Solution is indicated for the treatment of conditions caused by, or associated with, oxytetracycline-susceptible organisms.
Terramycin® LA Injectable Solution is recommended wherever prolonged antibiotic treatment is indicated,
or where for practical, economic, or veterinary reasons, frequent animal handling and repeat treatment is not
feasible.
Cattle: For the treatment of tick-borne gallsickness (anaplasmosis), heartwater, pneumonia, footrot, joint
ill, navel ill and pink eye (infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis).
Swine: For the treatment of pneumonia, joint ill and navel ill.
Sheep and goats: For the treatment of heartwater, pneumonia, footrot, joint ill and navel ill.
Use only as directed.
Do not inject intravenously. Terramycin® LA Injectable Solution is designed for intramuscular injection at the single dose rate of 1 ml/10 kg of live body mass of cattle, sheep, goats and swine, thus providing 20 mg oxytetracycline per kg live body mass. Subcutaneous administration will give the same effect as the intramuscular route, but swelling at the injection site could occur. However, in very young swine under 10 kg body mass, the subcutaneous injection route of administration is preferred. Normally, a single treatment of 1 ml/10 kg body mass will be sufficient for the treatment of susceptible disease conditions. Retreatment 72 hours following the initial injection may be given, if necessary, particularly in the case of pink eye (infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis). Temporary localised swelling at the injection site may be observed. In slaughter animals the preferred site of injection is the neck.
Dosage:
Cattle: 1 ml/10 kg body mass. Intramuscular injections should be made deep into the fleshy part of the muscle. To minimise local tissue irritation, no more than 10 ml should be injected at any one site.
Swine: In pigs weighing up to 10 kg, administer 1 ml subcutaneously behind the ear. In pigs weighing in excess of 10 kg, administer 1 ml/10 kg body mass by intramuscular injection at one site. In swine over 100 kg, it is recommended that the dose be divided and administered into two injection sites.
NB: Do not administer more than 0,5 ml to piglets of less than 2 kg body mass.
Sheep and goats: Administer 1 ml/10 kg body mass by intramuscular injection at one site. In sheep and goats over 50 kg, it is recommended that the dose be divided and administered into two injection sites.
NB: For rapid recovery, a prompt and accurate diagnosis is essential. It is, therefore, always advisable to consult your veterinarian for a correct diagnosis.
